Charlie Sizemore Deletion Review[edit]

Please restore this draft. Please refer to the Ralph Stanley wiki article, the Hall of Fame inclusion, or the Bluegrass music #1 charts if notability is still in question. Thank you. 173.242.246.204 (talk) 07:23, 27 May 2024 (UTC) Pat[reply]

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that the draft was a mix of copyvio, unattributed copying, and LLM-generated text. Nobody (talk) 08:05, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Nobody thanks. I've seen a couple similar, basically crap with multiple infringements, so I just delete as spam and indef the spammer, quicker than doing the full charge sheet Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:09, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your page deletion about Yossi Erblich[edit]

Hello,

The page created was the translation of the original Wikipedia article https://he.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%99%D7%95%D7%A1%D7%99_%D7%A2%D7%A8%D7%91%D7%9C%D7%99%D7%9A since 2022! This is not Unambiguous advertising nor promotion! Looking forward for your answer. Editorlok (talk) 08:41, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Hi Jim, I have several questions about your note on my user talk page, but can I start by asking when did I receive and delete a COI notice? I don't remember doing it, and if I did it inadvertently, I want to learn from my mistake. Atolkachev (talk) 16:37, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your note, and I can wait for your further replies until the time is good for you. To further question the COI notice you posted on my talk page, I believe a lot of what you saw was on the now deleted page. Can we wipe that slate clean? It was an awkward attempt after a long absence from Wikipedia as a contributor, and without full knowledge of the current guidelines. I wanted to create a page for my favorite travel podcast along the lines of what I found at List of travel podcasts and specifically to imitate The Travel Diaries Podcast. Naively or lazily I simply lifted most of the content from the About page of the podcast website rather than writing in my own voice and quoting the sources. I have learned both my mistakes and ways to improve the article yesterday. I have the draft page ready Draft:The Earful Tower Podcast, would you recommend submitting it for review?
As for COI, does a listener of a podcast have COI? Inasmuch as one is a devoted (6 years) listener, who recommends the podcast to friends and strangers, maybe, but in that case -- who does not have a COI with a podcast? Why would anyone but a host or a fan write a page about a podcast? I wonder who wrote the podcast page(s) I referenced? We may not know for sure, but we can't assume they have COI.
Any additional clarifications and feedback will be greatly appreciated. If you accept my explanation, I would appreciate your removing the COI notice. Atolkachev (talk) 17:11, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding deletion of Draft:Robie Hillier[edit]

While I understand that there are rules for making wikipedia pages, I do not appreciate you calling the page dedicated to music a "vanity page". I included basic information such as education relevant to my music. If the rules require a citation that is understandable, but please be more professional with your criticisms. All I want to do is leave a footprint for my music and I don't like being insulted for doing so. All the best. RobieHillier (talk) 17:25, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

RobieHillier, no matter what you call it, unreferenced self-promotion is not permitted on Wikipedia. Cullen328 (talk) 17:31, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
RobieHillier thanks for your comment Jimfbleak - talk to me? 18:43, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Like I said, if that's the reason I understand. My issue was with how it was addressed, not the fact that it was addressed. RobieHillier (talk) 22:11, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
RobieHillier, you chose to write about yourself, which seems to be for your benefit rather than to improve the project, so I can't really see what the problem is with that being indicated in the edit summary. You could have written about someone or something else if you genuinely wanted to be helpful Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:35, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is your approach. Show people the same respect you would expect to be shown yourself. RobieHillier (talk) 23:12, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your Deletion of Natasha Kravchuk[edit]

Hi Jim, I noticed you just deleted my newly submitted biography for Natasha Kravchuk. Can you provide more insight as to why you automatically deleted it? I spent hours creating that and thought I had researched what was acceptable for content on Wikipedia. Please help me understand why you removed it and I hope you consider restoring it so I can edit and adjust as needed. Thank you so much! Natasha Kravchuk (talk) 19:32, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Submitting draft for review[edit]

Hello again. I have submitted Draft:The_Earful_Tower_Podcast for review. After the submission, a bot disabled the categories (e.g. "2016 Podcast Debuts") on the page and another one removed the logo because it's a draft. Question: was I supposed to remove the word Draft from the page name when I submitted it, or was everything done correctly up to this point, including the disabling of the categories and removal of the logo (non-free image I uploaded for use in this article)? I had received a separate note a day before that my non-free image will be deleted if it is not used in an article. It's a bit of catch-22. Thank you! Atolkachev (talk) 15:34, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Atolkachev it's all as it should be so far; we don't want drafts to show up in a category search, and for copyright reasons non-free images can only be used in the final article (even TFA blurbs can't use them) Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:42, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting a page that is legit[edit]

Hello, I see that you deleted my page for Guy Deutscher (Physicist). Can you please elaborate why have you done it. This is a very famous scientists in solid state physics and the page contained many references to his many works. You can find that he is also cited in Tel Aviv University website and had a long history of scientific merits. Please reverse your deletion Roy Beck (talk) 14:07, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Replied on user talk page, no proper references and highly promotional tone Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:11, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean no proper references? These are all peer-reviewed papers vetted by the world's scientific community and links to scientific website in reliable universities. Can you please specify where in the text it is not proper? Where did you find promotional tone? please elaborate so we can fix the webpage according to wiki regulation Roy Beck (talk) 16:00, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, still no COI response, although I note we can fix the webpage Who is "we"? In what sense is a paper written by him an independent third-party source? If genuine refs comment on his work, fine. If you say "he wrote a paper... here is the paper" it's of no value. Academics write papers, it's part of the job, and doesn't make them notable. Please read my messages before asking Where did you find promotional tone? provided insights into the nature of the pseudogap in these materials... his hallmark papers... represent significant milestones in his research career and have had a lasting impact on the field... This work provided valuable insights into the dynamics of film growth and its impact on the resulting film properties.... not only a brilliant scientist but also a dedicated leader and mentor... Many of his students went on to hold prominent positions in academia and industry in Israel and abroad... leaving behind a beloved family and a legacy of scientific achievement and a profound impact on the field of superconductivity. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 20:06, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your message. I will take your advice and comments to correct the text accordingly if you can just put it back as a draft. To your questions, Prof. Deutscher died a few weeks ago and I, together with few other colleagues, wanted to add more references to his wiki page that was already there for several years (I don't know who put the first page that was live before). In the page, I added the relevant references to the papers he wrote. They are cited correctly according to wiki instructions and appear both in the main text as citation and in the references below with hyperlinks to the papers in the relevant scientific journals. What make distinguished scientists? The answer is that a scientist is measured by how much their work is being cited (thus influenced others), the awards and prizes they received (based on scientific importance of their work measured by his peers), and the legacy of their students they mentored. Given all the above I believe that out of the 300 papers Deutscher wrote more than a few are indeed hallmark papers that changed the way scientists think, in particular about superconductivity. As such they are highly cited by other independent teams all around the world ((check out his google scholar page to appreciate Deutscher's contributions). Unlike other practices, in science it is rather easy to know if one made a big contribution or not (to science). Deutscher is one of them, by all measures. As I wrote before, I will tune down the text once it is back as a draft before submitting (Please remember that the page was already alive wiki page for several years and other cited that page - so I don't understand why did you deleted it all together). Thanks again for your valuable help Roy Beck (talk) 07:36, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding deletion of my article[edit]

Hi, Jim, can you comment on how my article looks more promotional than other articles on the same topic (open access journals), for example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Journal_of_Political_Ecology

This article seems more promotional to me than the one I submitted.

Maybe you can comment on what I can change and return the article to draft? Thank you very much! SunDella (talk) 13:17, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
