Unless we are going to include all the non-aircraft elements in this template, I tihnk we should lose GEC from the pre GEC-Marconi part. At the moment the start of the timelines are all the aircraft companies except GEC.GraemeLeggett 10:24, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think it belongs there for 2 reasons;
GEC became a large shareholder in BAC upon purchase of EE
GEC-Marconi was in the aeronautics sector, although at the electronic end of things. Without it, BAE Systems appears just as a rebrand of BAe, this shows that it is a merger of 2 sets of interests. Perhaps this is what caused some upset over at WP:AIRCRAFT, where it was seen as more of a BAE Systems timeline rather than an general aircraft company timeline, I had just hoped to kill 2 birds with one template-shaped stone.
I agree with Emoscopes. You can't include BAC without mentioning GEC (I think I read GEC couldn't care less about BAC, it just wanted EE, but that's irrelevant). And if we're talking about BAE Systems, to ignore GEC-Marconi/MES is not logical. Mark83 18:01, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
